Dr. Dave helps ease the pain of the workday.
Hear me on Star 1057 Monday thru Saturday from 10am to 3pm.  At noon, I've got an hour of '80s and early '90s retro called, "The Back In The Day Cafe."  It's a great way to blow off some stress and remember better times.

About Dr. Dave
Chenango Valley Warrior (class of 1976) also attended Mansfield University (class of 1981) and then went about pursuing my radio career.  Worked at seven different radio stations in this town (many of which are now corporate sister stations here at Clear Channel Binghamton), as well as working in towns outside of Binghamton, such as Elmira, Syracuse, Scranton, Virginia Beach, Chattanooga and Nashville.  Seven great kids from 2 marriages, Jennifer, Lisa Mae, Amy, David, Dylan, Sierra and Genevieve and a granddaughter, Jasmine Mae.  As for myself, I'm a sci-fi nut.  Love Star Trek to Star Wars to Ray Bradbury, you name it.  Also like murder mysteries.  Love Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes.  Of course I also love a wide variety of music, and I mean a really wide variety...everything from Classic Rock to Hip Hop.  If it's got a beat and a melody, I wanna know about it.  Hear me Monday thru Saturday from 10a to 3pm on Star 1057.

Wednesday August 13th, 2008:

---The price of gas is down another penny a gallon!  It better keep dropping like this for the next 3 months if the Republicans hope to have a chance against Obama.

My greatest fear is that once gas prices drop another dollar or so for the winter, consumers will go back to their old habits...and remember, another Republican in the White House will probably mean more of what we had last month, crippling energy prices!

---The Federal Highway Administration reported today that Americans drove 5% less last month!  That translates to 12.2 billion fewer miles!  That's the biggest monthly drop ever!

Taking the trend further, Americans have driven 53.2 billion fewer miles going back to November 2007!  That's a bigger decline that during the oil embargo of the 1970's!

American's are increasingly using Public Transportation, walking, biking, carpooling!  Keep it up!

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008:

---Think you've got it bad?  In Alaska the average price per gallon for gas is $4.56, but in some extremely rural area's, it's as high as $10.00 per gallon!  Because of this added burden the State is issuing $12-hundred payments to citizens to help pay their energy bills!

---The average national price of gas dropped another penny today, for the 26th day-in-a-row!  YAY!

---The Humpback Whale is considered to be on the road to recovery according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature!  The mammal was once nearly hunted into extinction.  For now the commercial hunting ban continues.

---The Star tabloid has just released a list of celebrities it considers to be the most green.  Amoung them...

Orlando Bloom...who buys organic food, organic clothes, minimizes his water usage (a big deal in SoCal) and also supports an organization called Global Cool, which helps fight global warming.

Salma Hayek...who powers her home with Solar panels, uses only green household products and sits on the board of the organization, Global Green USA.

Will Ferrell...who drives a BMW Hydrogen 7 vehicle, powers his house with a solar energy system and supports the National Resources Defense Council.

Here's another quick environmental fact:  The USA generates 50% of the worlds trash...yet, we have only 6% of the population.  Please RECYCLE!

August 11th, 2008:

---25 days-in-a-row that national average price for a gallon of gas has dropped!  The national average according to the new Lundberg survey is $3.85, and that's down 15 cents from late July!  Keep your fingers crossed that this trend continues until the price of gas is about $2.00 a gallon...maybe then we can afford luxuries like DVD's and Starbucks again!

---Here's a positive sign from the people who publish the Kelley Blue Book.  In a new survey they say that 80% of new car shoppers are concerned about the environment and the need to reduce CO2 emissions.  75% also added that they've already made lifestyle changes to improve the environment such as cutting back on driving, recycling more and buying fuel-efficient vehicles!

As many as 30% on this new survey are even willing to pay higher taxes to help!  That's a nice change of pace considering how global warming used to get a cold shoulder from conservatives and the electorate in general, not that long ago.
